Invest In Those Who Keep Our Communities Safe

Washington State corrections employees put their lives on the line to protect the public.

Many corrections employees are military veterans who have served our country and are continuing that public service back home. They know how important it is to invest in corrections so that our state’s prisons are safe and our communities are strong.

I urge the Washington Legislature to fully fund the corrections contract and invest in the men and women who keep our communities safe.

I support them but it’s a shame that the folks in Olympia don’t seem to.

We work just has hard if not harder then the senate, stop taking away what we deserve and do not take the medical away from our Spouses, where is our 11 % raise that the senate voted on to give to themselves. I say its time for our raise not theirs.

Do you, the Legislators, understand the dangers that corrections staff face each day? The staff have no weapons to defend themselves, they are out numbered by 100 – 1 at many times during the day! DOC has worked many years with no pay raises. Show the staff that you respect them and appreciate the work they do and the risk they take each time they walk into the Prison!!

It would be nice if someone cared about how dangerous our jobs are for a change and that we deserve to be paid adequately!!

Corrections officers provide a vital service to their community. Unlike the local police department corrections officers are in contact with convicted violent offenders every hour of the day and should be paid accordingly.

Society forgets about criminals once they are sentenced… so they forget about us and what we do also. We have to work where these people live, on their turf…
